Katayama Bunzaburo was founded in Kyoto in 1915 and specialized in Shibori dyeing . Shibori is a technique that has existed for over 100 years, before diving in the silk fabric dyeing, craftsmen regularly tied it to create a form and a repeated pattern.
In recent years, to adapt to modern life , the company has achieved material R&D for fashion and interior design . Katayama wholesales its material and sells its own final products to institutions such as MOMA ( Museum of Modern Art , New York) and the Prado (Spain) etc.
