Wood

Founded in 1973 in Nishijin, Kyoto and recognized as the best producer of Kimono fabrics, Tatenoya also produces Kimono accessories (small objects, purse). The feature of this fabric is the use of golden thread.
In 2008, Tatenoya invented a new material. Natural wood is sawn to a thickness of 0.25 mm (slit) and processed to give flexibility to the material, then it is woven. The end result is a flexible material shaped fabric keeping the appearence of the original wood.


Technique: Use of Nishijin weaving technique, the wire chain of silk or polyester thread, natural wood frame cut to 0.25 mm and obtaining a sheet with special treatment sliced ​​into 2 mm is used as thread. There are 30 different types of fabric in their wood weaving collection

Materials: wood veneer (natural materials sections 0.25 mm thick), silk yarn or polyester yarn, golden thread.
